The Layoff Ballad Poem by Zoran Bogdanovic

The Layoff Ballad

Yesterday we lost another man,
Hamid was "allowed" to leave,
I like that guy but little I can,
little to offer and give.

A splendid morning emerged today
even though it's Halloween,
a clear and a sunny day
to show me where I've been.

And Frank said: "I'll be frank,
I will be honest with you,
journey's long, fill up the tank,
you may be going too."

As I was putting on my coat
I found myself thinking:
"We are all on the same boat,
it's just that the boat is sinking."
