The Letter (Things Unsaid) Poem by Weldon Davis

The Letter (Things Unsaid)

I wrote you a letter yesterday
I left so much unsaid
I just want to assure you
You're my everything
Everything that is
(Good, wholesome, and pure)

I smile when I wonder
At the future
The future not so far away
I smile because
I know you love me
You take me to that place
(The pinnacle)

Our family comes foremost
They've become my inspiration
Vital to my existence
As respiration
(Fresh air)

So let's take all the bad
In the past
Throw it all away
Let's take all the good things
That have happened
Stow them someplace safe
(Cherished memories)

Let's be open and honest with each other
As friends, parents, and lovers
Cause
We got a long way to go
-And-
I really want it to
Be with you
(No excuses)

Let's never go to bed
With things left unsaid
Ask me and I'll try
To always tell you how I feel
(Communication)

I know I'm a work in progress
We both have so many scars on our hearts
-And-
The world forever picks at
The scabs
(Contentment)

These are some of the things
I wanted to say but did not
I'm in a bad place right now
A prison within a prison
I know you got my back
-And-
It makes everyday that much easier

In closing....
Thank you for loving me
I hope
We can take this hardship
-And-
Build something positive
From it
(Our foundation)
