The Lonely Husband Poem by Franklin Spriggs

The Lonely Husband

I was sitting around the house one day,
This thought came into my mind,
Why am I always by myself,
And a wife I cannot find.

I did not know I got married,
To be alone most of the time,
You pat my hand, then kiss my cheek,
And say, every thing will be just fine.

We took the vows and said I do,
That we would never part,
Can you explain to me my dear,
Why the emptiness in my heart.

Your on the go most every day,
It's seldom that your home,
You've always got so much to do,
Why must I be left alone.

The day will come for me to leave,
Then I'll be put beneath the ground,
I guess I'll not be lonely then,
There will be people all around.
