A plant,
tiny
as a flash in the ocean
at dawn,
chose for a home
the only empty vase
where there was just earth.
"Where did you come from, plant?
And why does your seed
prefer to live in an empty vase? "
"The wind
took me away from my land
and I travelled
for days and nights
and, finally, exhausted
I chose to collapse
on your balcony."
"That's very nice,
but why didn't you choose
a vase with plants? "
"I would have liked to,
but I soon realized
that I wouldn't have been welcome.
I am different and I come from far away
and yet my veins are filled with sap, just like theirs,
I'm green, just like them,
and furthermore
I love the sun, the water and the earth.
For this reason I preferred
to be born alone.
I suppose I might be a little bitter
but now I know
that it's better to grow on your own
and to be alone
than to grow alongside others
and feel alone anyway."

I would like to translate this poem
So nicely written. Many themes can be found here. Migration, acceptance, search for a new beginning etc.
Indeed. The poem is an invitation to peace and harmony. Thank you, Kostas.
