The Lonely Seeker Poem by Akaninyene Etuk

The Lonely Seeker

In a crowed land I stand alone
To seek a piece of life with groan
On this desert of wealth I move
To seek and seek and seek

I seek food
I seek strength
I seek shelter
I seek peace
Like an aimless sheep straying
I have wandered my days away

I see hunger
I see weakness
I see homeless
I see war
Like the dry lonely Sahara
Our lands have been plagued with rien

Where do I go
In this endless distance?
What do I do
In this barren escapade?

Do I go to the rich for a sip?
No, they will use my head for a cup
Do I go to the brave for strength?
No, they will use my bones for weapons
Do I go to the poor for comfort?
Oh, they will pierce my heart with pity

I'm in the middle of nowhere
Where everything means nothing
The goods and foods,
Milk and meal,
Honey and money
Have all been gulped by greed

Nothing is left for me
Though I may search from now to then
I only have this lonely path to own
To continue my ceaseless search
Maybe one day my fate will smile
The sands will turn to grains

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is only a cry and sorrow of the poor and homeless in a wealthy country where the political class, elites, and capitalist have taken all the resources and wealth of the nation leaving the ordinary man with nothing but an empty hope and wishful thoughts. It's a poem where that portrays the masses living in hunger in the midst of abundance. The word 'rien ' is a French word which means 'nothing' or 'nothingness'.

This is exactly what is happening in most nations of the world especially in the third world countries

This is a very good poem that talks about most African countries where people have been deprived off their hopes, liveihood, dreams, ambition and right
