The Long Road Poem by Okunola Peace

The Long Road

The day is cloudy and the weather bleak
In the period when life is in disarray
And the hope of man fades with the day
That could bring changes or worsen.

The day will smile upon some weary faces
And cast its joyless visage upon others
That are not fortunate to bask and flourish
In the boon its arrival offers.

The path to tread is full of difficulty
And hassles that dampen the will of men
Brave and strong in their desire to flourish
In a world that stinks of evil and darkness.

The wind is strong, the land is without norm
For the valiant who braves the storm
Of a world full of dangers that seek to find
The weak in sunny days and deepest nights.

Who shall break through the clouds of deceit?
Who shall shun darkness and walk in the light?
Listen men of might! Hark to my voice of reason!
For no man can stop time from passing by.

Hold dearly to friends you love and cherish,
Hold their hands and enjoy the comfort they offer,
Be their anchor in this time of peril
For the road is long and not without dangers.
