The Longing Poem by Drexel Berry

The Longing

</>
I long for you

I long for your scent, your touch
I long for your taste, to kiss you slowly, no rush
I long for your gaze and how you can make a black man blush

I long for you, something outside the norm
I long to be with you, until something else is born

I long for the feeling that I get when I am near to you
I long for the moment you realize that undoubtedly I’m always here for you

I long for the right to need you by my side
I long for the night we could say, “at least we tried”
I long for day your fear subsides
I long for the day that you say “us” with pride

I long for your soul’s companionship and I’d to anything to reach it
I long for your walls to be gone, I’d to anything to breach it
I long for you, it’s your mind, body, and soul I want to be with
I long for the chance, to treat you the way a queen would treated.

I long for you
