The Lost Sun.. Poem by Deepak Calyampoondi

The Lost Sun..

From his craddle, till his man-hood,
She showered flowers of love, he felt so good.
For the only child, the only son he was,
he was her 'Sun', her only source of energy and joy.

She groomed him carefully, with just and care,
She made him so courageous, no one would dare.
Proud she felt as others admired,
He became a soldier as he desired.

He fought many battles, only to win,
when she heard the news of victory,
her heart was full till it's brim.
Tears of joy poured when she got another letter,
little did she know, he was no longer there.

No more lamenting could bring him back,
For he was a victim of the enemy's attack.
He was her only cheer, for she was a single mother,
to mourn his departure, the nation did gather.
Today she tells others many stories of her son,
But deep inside her heart she feels,
that she has lost her 'Sun'.

Good poem having great pathos. Though many poems has already been written on the same subject yet this one is exception in terms of imagery and style. Thanks for sharing.....
