The Lying Tongue Poem by Randy McClave

The Lying Tongue

A lying tongue can't speak to God
In his presence it is silenced and awed,
It will not move or speak a lie
It will remain motionless, with a cowardly sigh.
The lying tongue is the tongue of the snake
Forked with lies to move and promises to break,
But, in the presence of our mighty God and Lord
It would be better off, if it were severed with a sword.
The lying tongue just has one master
Which brings it sin and hate and also disaster,
It does not care for what deceitful master it serves
It is an uncaring tool which happily unnerves.
Before man ever utters a word to speak
Be forewarned, God listens before man ever does seek,
So, before that lying tongue can scream or shout
It would be better off, if it were ripped completely out.
The lying tongue has brought upon the world guilt and shame
And also grief, worries and sadness and blame,
It could make a God fearing man a sinner to all
And a sinning woman becoming an Angel before the fall.
Those who worship a lying tongue are the worse
Upon them all, there falls a great terrible curse,
An adulterer, a cheat, or a deceiver should never be approved
Their lying tongue should be quickly removed.
The lying tongue can be a pleasure to hear
It can bring forth joy, revenge, satisfaction and cheer,
It can also become an unguarded treasure
As it spews out slander, defamation and fabrication as a pleasure.
The Bible says that the truth will set you free
Honestly and truthfulness is what God hopes all to see,
But, those who speak or believe in a lying tongue
Into the depths of Hell, they all should be flung.
