The Man

Poem by laurajayne Kennedy

he sits alone
every ngiht
drinks the same drink,
its not a pretty sight.

the same croner,
in the same chair
the same routine
ever since she left.

his life a misery
no laughter in sight
since she went away
his heart died.

so he sits here every night
drinks the night away
its the time when it hurts most
so he tries to make the pain go away.

a drink in his hand
his life drained away
it takes all his strength
to get him through the day.
