The Man And The Sign Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

The Man And The Sign

The man and the sign

Sign in hand he walked as
-a column for the roof
-and stud for the wall
-in palace or shrine

And kids on cross-walk
-he stands
-as do hens
-defending their brood…

Loveliest is the scene
-not father is father
-life in palm dedicates
-what he has in power
-by holding stop-sign

It makes him authorised
-he looks at the smile
-worn by the children

Off school they play
-most of them too busy
-and blind to see him
-heart's throbs

He sees them all as buds
-on trees, in gardens
-lovely and innocent

Wish I had a canvas
-could paint and could draw
-loveliest horizon
-with mass of the clouds
-land on sea waves along
-the warmest kiss ever
-to welcome…
