The Masquerade Is Over Poem by Kellyn, A Grau

The Masquerade Is Over

I love you but I hate it
My hearts become so jaded
A mixture between love and pain
Which one is the right choice to explain?
The nights become so cold and distant
My eyes become so numb and quite
What happened to the light that guides me
What happened to the night that hides me
With in this mind it back tracks life
Taking in everything that's happened in the past
The pain I've consumed, you'll never understand
The tears that fall are still filled with fear
And yet something happens to make them disappear
A hand reaches out, through the florescent mirror
Picks me up, brushes me off, and hands me a new heart
The hand that guids me was my own
I was just to blind to see what was right before my eyes
So here's to self healing and learning from mistakes
Here's to the pain you've placed on my plate
Rejections is a known companion
One I've learned to deal with and know
But time has changed and rejections out
Its time to feel the love I once knew
Time to start over once more, be bran new
So let go of the past and look into the light
Comprehend what's right and what you've given in
Alone in the darkness, or come out and seek light
My choice is rational and I don't want to fight
My heart will remain somewhat with you
But I can't endure these shattering words
That you feed off to me, so don't reject me
Just pull me close and whisper you love me
Or is that just too much to ask of you
If so then it's fine, I'll pick something new
And begin a fresh start and do everything again
No longer needing the friend called pretend
