'The Masterpeice: Fuji's Star' Part 2 'Priority Number One' Poem by Kevin Wang

'The Masterpeice: Fuji's Star' Part 2 'Priority Number One'

squeak after squeak
put the pedal to the metal
as we both used to
I could still hear her laughter
just a cycle away
but it's only the ghastly whisper of the wind
mocking what I last missed
what I lost
in the far past

within a beat away
feel the clock click like boom
as I start to sway
to the music we both played
closer and closer
to the place we used to meet

bigger and bigger did it grow
this thought I'd like to bestow
even I didn't even know
but this connection seemed to grow

to the last step
as this mist in my eyes starts to part
to follow what's deep within my heart
as I threw my bike to the ground
and ran against time hoping to believe to be indebt

stealing my breath away
to break a fall
before this mound upon a mountain
is a stone which engraved her very name
Here lies our beloved daughter
RIP
Fuji ….
and cherry blossoms hugging 'round her bed
since now I know a bit why it'd never be the same

this is why
this is why I'm not
the man I ever was again
with these contents of the jewelry box
which once was held possession
by a beauty who's now light years away
who's presence is here
who's figure is still there
but I cannot see her face

but a shadow
a silhouette
who seems to refuse to come
out into the light

seemed like I was too late
but I'd still like to bestow these gifts
which held within the box
an ink drawing of a mountain
a letter written by her own hand
most of all which intrigues me the most
is this tiny music box
which sat stubbornly
but seemed so special
so with a crank
and a twist on the knob
came a picture of a thousand words
