The Matchmaker Of The Shire Poem by Justin Gildow

The Matchmaker Of The Shire

The matchmaker of the shire sits on a bale of hay to the side of the street
She offers me her charming smile and talks to me for a few minutes
While still clutching her heart shaped staff

We stay by the side
As people walk by us
We talk about our day
And we plan about our future seperately

Time comes along to break us apart for the next few hours
And as I walk and run through the Faire
The hours fly by at such a rate

The matchmaker of the shire reunites with me at the end of the day
Though at times I wish I could be in love
And you wish that so much to happen for me
It hasn't happened today
Yet the light and the dark are still ahead
Life and love can be their own substantial reward

We embrace for a great day
We embrace as we say goodbye until the next time
