The Midnight Of Summer Poem by John W. McEwers

The Midnight Of Summer

Summer was always such a happy time
til now.

I loved you like cereal loves milk,
til now.

I moved as close to you as a fence to a yard
til now.

But summer can't be sunny all the time,
not now.

You left me behind you, never to hold you close,
not now.
