The Mighty Dan By Mai Murphy Venn

There was once a man called Mighty Dan.
He lived in Duncannon in a big yellow van.
He swam every day, out in all weathers, they say.
Then he came home to a great big mug of tea.
Dan was a man who loved the blue sea.
He was very well-liked by everyone he knew.
He had no enemies, not even a few.
One day, he was gone. He never came home.
The big yellow van, it stood still, all alone.
Poor Dan, he had gone to a watery home.
No more would we see him, no more would he roam.
Well, his ghost appeared one stormy night.
It gave all the fishermen a terrible fright.
He came out of the fog and glided over the rig.
Then, with the sound of music, he danced a jig,
This apparition did resemble Dan, all right.
If you could see him, it was a very strange sight.
A dancing ghost, I never did see one before.
Nor do I want to know. Na never no more.
So, if you go wandering down by the strand.
You might see strange food prints on the sand.
It will be ok, for it is only the spirit of your man.
The one and only dancing ghost, the mighty Dan
