The Miss That Missed A Look Behind A Book Poem by C Richard Miles

The Miss That Missed A Look Behind A Book

Hide behind your book, my love; hide behind your book.
Do not give your fellow passengers even a simple look.
Do not let a stray emotion slip out from your face.
Keep up the smug impression that you’ve won the human race.
As everybody sweats and fumes, be sure to keep your cool.
You don’t want them all to think you’re anybody’s fool.
Keep your eyes fixed on the page with unwavering regard.
Make sure that no distraction can make you dropp your guard.
Just hide behind your book, my dear; keep yourself to yourself.
But don’t forget the boy who smiled if you’re left on the shelf.
