The Mistake Poem by richard ilnicki

The Mistake

A mistake has been made.
It was a big one,
but perhaps
it could have been much bigger.
Like making a wrong turn
or going out too far,
running a Stop sign,
running red light,
or stealing some particular belonging.
Perhaps a lie was told,
an exhibition of fraudulence
or hypocrisy was poprtrayed.
Perhaps adultery was committed
or a life may have even been taken,

but to you
the mistake was unforgiveable.
Just how big is that?
