The most wonderful time in my life,
Is not when I thought it might be
Not where I conquered my greatest strife,
Not the greatest achievement for me.

The most wonderful time in my life,
Was not in some faraway paradise
Or what brought me needed relief,
Or what I thought would forever suffice.

The most wonderful time in my life,
Was not a moment of childish bliss
Certainly not when rumors were rife
Not even my first unexpected kiss.

The most wonderful time in my life
Was one long-ago day in a distant May
When you, dearest, became my wife.
When you lingered, then chose to stay.
