The Music Of Our Lives Poem by Thomas Noel Smith

The Music Of Our Lives

The garden darkens in the dusk
Birds begin to sleep.
The day stretches his golden hand,
And bids a soft farewell.

Voices drift from lighted rooms
Laughter and music and song
Confidences shared by kindred hearts.
The music of our lives

Hear the symphony of the sky.
Stars dance freely through the dark
And briefly leave their sparkling trails
Across the velvet night

A soft wind drifts through the twinkling stars
Carrying sounds of a sleepy world.
The sweet serenity of the night
Yes, the music of our lives

Laughter merges with the night
As the wind sings its song
And the time is good for the hearts that sing
The music of our lives.
