The Mystery Poem by Sarah Grimshaw

The Mystery

Conquest completed
I'm full to the brim
Satisfied, but still digesting
Collecting all the pieces and methodically putting them back together; forming revolutions.
I'm squinting
Trying to understand thoughts like scribbles
Round and round
Up, down
And around again
A mystery for no one to truly understand
I let it swallow me, devouring me whole
Foolishly I followed the path too far down, and suddenly I fell into the black of night
I searched for light, but it was hidden
I tried to turn around, but everything was gone
Gone
Only way now was forward
Straightening up, forward on I went
Still, the path was bumpy
Frequently stumbling on forgotten stones
Every stone unturned reveled a lesson, a moment in time
I can see now
I can see
