The Nuclear Age And Other Horrors Poem by Wayne Taam

The Nuclear Age And Other Horrors

This man I see
walking smiles
in his pocket
to his automobile

Double parked
to pick up his
Kafka novel
ordered from the
bookshop?

His life hangs
thin like mine
yours ours on
this Damoclesian
thread

How do you fathom
mortality?
How do you reason
Reason?
How do you contemplate
fragility and the wonders
of love?

Love makes the world
go round
Love makes the world
turn down
Love will keep us

And
will destroy us

Love has kept its promise

Please, please help me understand
