The Oblique Journey Poem by James Darwin Smith II

The Oblique Journey

Terraform the uninhabitable present
Make it your own abode
Love it with unconditional care
Closing any distance
We have ever had before

You have traveled
Far and wide
From rancor to fury
Not by your own
Show of hands
All roads led
Into a paradox
Ever so
Misconstrued and blurry

Never a respite
In this delirious journey
Find an abode
Break in
Rob this heart blind
Just have reasons
For why you
Have only been
But a ghost
In your own reemergence

Solve this enigma
Just be around is all
Take me away
From this yearning
I do not care
What you have to do
Or even say
Show brute
To modest intentions
If it means there
Will not be another day of worrying

Just always be yourself
I never want you any other way

I am stronger
Than you have ever known

Test this endurance
And let me become nomadic
All in the name of your arrival

This heart
Does not have to be
A utopia or paradise
Just let it beat
Many enduring beats

Make it painful for me
Comfortable for you
I have no care anymore
Just make your intentions
Loud and clear

This heart of mine
A nomadic fighter
Exploring ever virtue
Cuing this residual slew
Limitless levels
Climbing onward
With blood, sweat and tears

I rather my journey be heavier
So yours can finally be lighter

Searching for
My own Valhalla on earth
While fighting for your
Own kingdom of heaven
Shining love
Brighter than ever before

My beauty, my devotional desire
I am here to help your soul

Seek refuge
Upon these struggles
Come on into
The calm of this storm

There will never be
A nomadic deceit

Wandering gypsy
This heart
Will always be open
No matter where else
You may have roamed

So make this heart yours
Create the environment
Of your own choosing
Even it means
It will be unbearable for me

I am but yours
In my own delusions

My love
Of love
Oh, how I admire your confusion

Has my love not been absolved?
What did I even do in the first place?

Even after it all
I will always love you
In the way you may deem possible

Make me your roam abode
I am indeed stronger
Than you have ever known

Even after this
My love for you continues on

Where have you been?

All this time…
