The Old Road Poem by Joyce Hemsley

The Old Road

In a few moments' time the clock will chime
When one lovely affair will be through...
Three minutes remain to share the pain
Their hearts simply breaking in two.

Once they vowed to always be faithful
To the first love of years ago,
Now past days of springtime still linger
The new affair must finish ~ they know!

It's so hard not to cry, saying goodbye,
But family ties must never never break.
Although love is all, 'long ago' seems to call
And the Old Road is the right road to take.
