The One I Fear Most: Me! - Poem by Shelby Lanier

At last!
I can breathe!
But wait…
Not really…

I lose sight…
I fall
My head hits the ground

I look behind
Silently he stands
Grey and dark
Tall and strong

A tear
A blink
A memory
A sigh

He disappears
And she takes his place
And I yelp,

For she is I…
The one whom I’m afraid of…
She’s dead…
And so am I!
