The One Who Sits Alone Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The One Who Sits Alone

A single hand can sign a page,
And start a war, and set the stage.
A single voice can say the word,
And cries of peace are never heard.

No need to ask the common man,
He is not part of the great plan.
No need to wait for other lands,
The power rests in just two hands.

This is not how it ought to be,
A choice for all, not one, you see.
For when one person holds the key,
There is no true democracy.

Let us not give one mind the might,
To turn the day into the night.
The choice of war, a heavy stone,
Should not be made by one alone.
