The Owl And The Rabbit Poem by Philo Yan

The Owl And The Rabbit

In a cool, pretty woods
lived an Eastern grass owl
pearls of wisdom he hoots
like a beautiful flower

He shared his humble abode
with a rabbit, a homeless toad.
a flock of snow white doves
The birds are those he loves.

His lovely garden where
he grows fruits and blossoms
Hopping here and there
The Rabbit finds him awesome.

One day he called the Rabbit
to whom he did implore
The rabbit out of habit
said 'No' to explore.

Wise Owl points the way
one morning spring of day
Go look and learn, be free
Away she hop, to see.

Her absence, Owl flustered
to find his heart does hurt
to think his Rabbit lusted
did she leave him in the lurch?

He mopped around in sorrow
forgot to feed his doves
He didn't see tomorrow
heart aches for one he loves.

The days then passed
for him a blur
He could not get past
the hurt or be clear.

The hurt was so bad
He sank very low
The ache was so bad
twisting knife slow..

He took flight
searching high and low
to ease his plight
where did Rabbit go?

Poor wise owl didn't find
what he was looking for
Felt like going out of his mind
When suddenly afar he saw
His bunny rabbit hopping home
He hoots with joyful welcome!

As she came near
the Owl felt some fear
but then he felt aglow
and Yes! he does know!

His rabbit is here to stay
His rabbit did not stray
He was feeling sad no more
He was very happy once more!
