The Past And I Poem by Meng Lim Dr

The Past And I

Let the past
bury its wounds
and hurts
seek the light of now
let the darkness part
drown in the sea
of oblivion-
there's life still
avoid anguish
and self-pity-
life is born
for much misery-

alone, tattered
shunned by love
I am not battered
the future will serve
as reminder
myself I have conquered
also every remaining pain
and unjust adversity-

as I walk in reverie
at the day's dying hours
by the silent stream
or lake, such consolation
does my heart feel
as though experienced
in a blessed dream-
what moment of exhilaration!
all this does richly seem
a sublime revelation
that suffering bears
the most profound meaning
and I know without reservation
the poets are right
when they say:
beauty conquers every tragedy.
