The Path Of Our Love Poem by Derrick Andrews

The Path Of Our Love

With every passing day and every ticking hour,

The strength of our love finds abundant new power,

With each second that passes, I fall deeper in love,

So tell me Courtney, what is the path of our future made of? ,

'Is it made of solid stone, no effort required? ',

No, that's unrealistic, overrused, and tired,

'Well what about tender cloth, woven with the hands of passion? ',

No, that would tear too easily, its only real use is fashion,

For it only takes one rip, to send cloth to its destruction,

And every path must have its rocks and spikes, its crude, small obstructions,

'Well surely it is rubber then, because it cannot rip, nor can it break? ',

Nay, for when times get cold or heated, rubber's life is at stake,

I believe that we can push through both the heat and the ice,

Through the bad times and the good, wherever fate rolls its dice,

'I'm positive its wood then, for its, sturdy, and won't break,

And requires tireless work and effort, to maintain and to make',

Ah, a valid answer indeed, though it has one fatal flaw,

It takes but one spark, to set ablaze the wood and all,

So again my friend, you're wrong indeed, would you like another guess? ,

'Hmmm, Ah, I've got it! It's steel, of course! Yes! ',

Ah my silly little wife, your answer is so near yet so far,

For steel may be formidable, but it is but one bar,

It has a fatal flaw as well, for when the heat rises,

Steel bends and folds under the pressure, and never again arises,

And with that my friend, I'd have to say, You've used up all your guesses,

So I'll tell you myself, what it's made of, through our happiness and distresses,

Our path is made of bricks, solid, sturdy, and can withstand any weather,

Though it must have the cement of our undying love, to possibly stay together,

It also requires the work of two people, in order to be completed,

With its hard external structure and inner strength, it cannot be defeated,

So you set the bricks and I'll use our love, to keep them glued together,

Then and only then, can our love truely last forever,

So fear not my love, the path is sturdy, trod upon it as you please,

For with our Brick-made path of love, you can always be at ease...
