The Patriot's Sonnet I Poem by Raymond Cabrera

The Patriot's Sonnet I

O my love, rays of hope were shining forth to you,
The endless dream of youths now wonders on its light
But the nation’s sorrow and trials we’ve been through
All ought to lose the rage for the enshrouding night;
Where now the land stained in hungry blood
Caused by terrorism or war for glooming peace,
Not wielding prayers of faith unto our loving God
Nation starves in poverty, crying for justice
How I lose my courage to hear the citizen cries,
How love vanish’d and change to greed and hate;
Shall I now lay my last hope in front of your eyes?
Shall now you hear or shall you still tolerate?
Countrymen were left unheal’d and nation’s at stake
Would I still breathe till the moment you wake?
