A man named Barabbas, held so tight,
A rebel leader, day and night.
For rising up, with angry hand,
And murder done, throughout the land.
In ancient days, in Jerusalem's wall,
He waited there, beyond the call.
A time of feast, a time of dread,
When Roman Pilate, words he spread.
'Choose one from two, ' the governor said,
'A life set free, or one instead.'
The people roared, a mighty sound,
'Barabbas free! ' their voices crowned.
They knew his name, his fiery strife,
And chose him out, to live his life.
While Jesus then, they led away,
To die upon the cross that day.
No more we read of Barabbas' way,
He walked to freedom, come what may.
His story ends, with choice so stark,
A prisoner free, a burning mark.
