The Petals Poem by Gordon R Menzies

The Petals

Rating: 4.0

On the wooden table,
in the early morning sun
tulip petals lay fallen by the vase
like the hours you'd lain in my arms
the night before
lingering pristine like the
richly coloured memory
of what had just passed
unwilling to stray far
from the very pinnacle of their beauty
and the reason of their bloom
