The Pieces Of My Heart - Poem by Katrina Lusk

The pieces of my heart,
I swore would be left broken.
But you came into my life,
like a missing token.
I promised to keep my guard,
now I'm finding it hard.
Whenever you smile,
life seems subsequently worthwhile.
Your kiss is sweet and gentle,
I instantly feel little.
When you hold me in your arms,
everything feels just right.
I hope we never fight.
No matter what we go through,
you're always by my side.
When all I want to do,
is run and hide.
Even on this crazy ride.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I wrote this after my boyfriend and I started dating. Three weeks after a hard breakup I gave him a chance. It took a while but I eventually gave up my guard. We've have been together for 5 months and I can actually say he is my best friend and I don't know what i'd do without him. He is my inspiration each day I take on a new challenge.
