The Pied Piper Poem by Alexander Shaumyan

The Pied Piper

Rating: 5.0

There once lived a stylish old fellow
With striped trousers and a tie,
And a jacket of red and yellow--
In his hands was a magic pipe.

As he played his pipe, people followed
His authority and decrees
In the name of the great pandemic--
The great threat to humanity.

Lovely songs of death counts and fear
He played constantly night and day,
As weeks passed, the months and the years,
Yet this plague was here to stay.

First the curve appeared to flatten,
As small businesses closed and ceased,
While the corporate profits fattened
And state powers widely increased.

And he played and just kept on going--
This pandemic will never stop--
You must all take these great injections
Or like grannie, you too will drop.

And they followed him to the slaughter,
To the mountains and the seas--
The Pied Piper, the Magical Healer--
The great threat to humanity.
