The Pledge Of Allegiance And Other Devotions. Part One. Poem by Roxanne Dubarry

The Pledge Of Allegiance And Other Devotions. Part One.

THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the
United States of America and to the
Republic for which it stands. One
Nation under God indivisible.With
Liberty and Justice for all."

THE LORD'S PRAYER

"Our father, who art in heaven
Hallowed by your name. Your
Kingdom come. Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts as we
Forgive our debtors. And lead us
Not into temptation. But deliver
Us from evil. For yours is the
Kingdom and the power and the
Glory forever A-Men"

THE 23 PSALMS
(a psalm of David)

The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want.
He makes to lie down in green pastures:
He leads me besides the still waters.
He restores my soul: He leads me in the paths
Of righteous For his name sake. Yea, though
I walk through the valley of the shadow
Of death, I will fear no evil: for you are
With me; your rod and your staff they comfort me;
He prepares a table Before me in the presence of my enemies: He
Anoints my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all
The days of my life; and I shall dwell in the
House of the Lord forever.

COMMENTARY ON THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

When we make a pledge of allegiance to our flag.
We make a solemn verbal and written vow. To
Honor, support and defend our beloved nation.
The United States of America.

Our country was founded as a republic by our
Founding fathers. It is now a democracy.
Regardless of the change in our type of
Government. The original pledge still stays
The exact same.

When it says one nation under God.
Means that we admit there is a sovereign
Authority our nation is being held
Accountable to.

Idvisible with liberty and justice for all.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand."
President Abraham Lincoln. He ruled over a
Divided nation. Therefore we must assume
He knew what he was talking about.

And our nation once more is being divided
Over racial, economic and social justice.
All of our people are promised liberty.
Which is far easier said than done.
Yes our nation was founded upon the basis
Of justice. And the cry throughout our
Nation is great.

COMMENTARY ON THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our father who art in heaven.
Our heavenly father in heaven
Is Almighty God. himself.

Hallowed by your name.
His name is holy. It is not
to be used as a curse word.
It is not to be blasphemed.
Especially in the social
And print media. Just
For example.

How would we like it if
Someone used our name as a
Curse word? Of course not!
And that's exactly what
We were taught.

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
This phrased is pretty self explanatory.
God's perfect will is always being done
In heaven. On earth, means we want his will
Done on earth as it is being perfectly done in
Heaven. His disciples asked him how to pray.
And the Lord's prayer was his answer to them
And to us as well.

Love in Christ Jesus!

To be continued in parts two and three.
