The 'Poem A Day' Project ~ Day 232

Rating: 0.5

I’m a faded years old statue
My dog’s chin on my knee
My nameplate’s worn and useless
No one knows who I used to be

A rusty green tinged with brown
For decades I have just sat down
By what used to be a market square
But now is just a busy road there
The car fumes add a layer of grey
To the plinth I rest on every day

I was once very famous
But now look tired and rotten
If being remembered ends like this
I’d rather be forgotten
