It wanders line by line lonely-
It does not know what it is-
It listens to music elsewhere
And hopes to hear itself-

It waits and wonders at the beauty of silence,
And suddenly without knowing why
Begins to feel itself alive
As it hears in the background
Its own rhythm slowly unfolding
In sounds it does not know the name of-

The poem hears its own music
