The Poems Are Not Written Poem by Shalom Freedman

The poems are not written-
Nothing is done-
Restlessness is loneliness
I have all the time in the world
And I am capable of doing little in it-

I will walk and try to wake my mind to poetry
I will hear poetry and try to wake my soul to life
I will live and try to understand why
I alone in all these many years of writing
Must begin again today
As if I never wrote at all
And never in any way achieved anything.
