The Poet Blake Told Me Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

The Poet Blake Told Me

Rating: 2.7

Take a gander at angels all buff -
muscles from wings to toe
brawny arms reaching to lambs
frolicking on greens and in the rough

Note Ezekiel sitting on the bough
of the tree in the backyard
tended to by winged seraphs
and rosy cherubs all aglow

Children are taught paradise is pastel
shiny bright green meadows by brooks
as we age we dwell in darker realms
and look the Tyger in the eye-
we see the hammer, the chain and the pit
the fiery furnace burning malign in the night!

Blake’s two widely different views on the human soul, one of Innocence and the other of Experience for children and adults respectively….. So let this tiger be symmetrical by the immortal hand which convey us the same …..let the children have visions of God and the Angels… This curious pantheistic conception nature was not a matter of creed but the very essence of Blake’s life..
