The Poetry Of Life Poem by Jan Freundschuh

The Poetry Of Life

Rating: 5.0

(Written After The Passing Of My Father To His Next 'Stage')

It's my job to see the poetry
Of the way things are
Just as they turn out
And not think it would have been sweeter
Another way.

It's hard to give up preferences
And concentrate doggedly on:
'All things work together for good'.

Trying to resist tangents and byways
No matter how I want to sulk
And indulge in hurt feelings,
And scene rewrites of the imagination

If it IS this way, there's an inherent beauty........
........A long novel may take time,
Getting to its destination.
The long build-up may be crucial
To its punch, to poetic release.

I don't want to insist that God shorten
His epic to a haiku
Because i want to see the point, now!

So though my energies are plaintive,
I didn't learn to ride in the first few years,
And Rome wasn't built in a day.

I want to be like 'Olivia',
10 year old child at the stables. They say:
'Even if things don't go her way,
She is always happy to be here.'

If the reality didn't match the dream...
I'll simply have to adjust the dream.
Assume it's not over, (give it more time,
Allow for more subplots) .

We mustn't give up on hope for the Beauty of the Way,
But we are actors without experience in Directing.
Yes, we do want our lives
To be works of Art,

Still we must release opinions
On the way the picture forms
And comes together in God's,
The Director and Producer's,
Mind.
