The Politician Poem by George Howard

The Politician

Sally sits alone in her 4x8 room, her baby on her lap,
Billy sits in the doorway cold and alone, a destitute chap.
It happened so fast! The bailiffs they came,
Men in black, men without shame.
The gas the electric, the food bills the rent,
No food in the cupboards, on loan sharks it's spent!
It happened so fast! The arguements the blows,
How did it happen? God only knows.
The first ones ignored, the next angry in red,
The official ones, cower down, just stay in bed!
Who cares? We should for each other!
'I'm the one for you, my brother! '
'Vote for me i'll put things right! '
“Justice for you, i'll fight with my might! '
The politician slides into his second home,
'it's cold out there let's turn up the heat! '
'i'll look in the fridge and see if there's meat! '
' These expenses they go nowhere at all! '
Grabbing the phone, gives Luiggi's a call,
'No send it! It's freezing out there! '
On a carpet thread bare
Sally weeps alone with her baby,
Billy, alive tomorrow? Maybe!
Who cares?
