The Politics Of Freedom Poem by Mohammad Yousef

The Politics Of Freedom

By Mohammad A.Yousef

In the heart of the city,
freedom dances,
twirling on the tightrope of hope—
a fragile thread above the crowd.

Voices rally in the square,
echoing dreams bright as banners,
each step a beat on the pavement,
their rhythm pounding heavy,
like the pulse of a heartbeat,
like the hopes of a million lives.

But freedom wears many masks,
a chameleon in the light of day—
some shout for change,
while others guard their walls,
cocooned in comfort,
afraid of the unfamiliar air
that whispers promises of new days.

What does it mean to be free?
Is it the right to speak,
or maybe the courage to listen?
Is it found in the loud protests
that rock the streets,
or in the quiet whispers of books
locked away like secrets,
waiting for brave souls to read?

We talk of freedom as if it's a border,
a line drawn through the land,
but the truth is messy,
like ink spilled on a map,
crossing back and forth—
freedom entangles us all,
fingers laced in a giant knot,
each thread unique, each color bright,
intertwined in a tapestry of voices.

Sometimes it feels endless,
this struggle to understand,
to break the chains we cannot see.
But real freedom asks,
not just what we can take,
but what we are willing to give.

To the friend we disagree with,
to the stranger holding signs,
to the hearts that bleed under heavy skies
hoping for change, hoping for light.

In this dance of ideas,
freedom swells and shrinks,
a tide that rises with our courage,
a gasp of air in a choking crowd,
the wild freedom of a child's laughter,
the fragile peace of an open hand.

So let us gather,
not to shout louder,
but to embrace the silence between words,
to dig deeper into our thoughts,
and find common ground,
to understand that our freedom
is a bridge, not a wall.

It spreads across every heart,
an invitation to join a dance
where we step together, forging paths
through the chaos and quiet alike,
where our voices blend into a song,
a melody of hope, of struggle,
and in that symphony, we find
the true politics of freedom,
woven in the stories we share,
the dreams we dare to dream,
and the battles we choose to fight.
