The Potent Playground Of Childhood And Youth Poem by DM W

The Potent Playground Of Childhood And Youth

Yesterday, yellow
And brown harvests of glory;
The green scent of trees:
The dove whiteness of time marked
By innocent days;
The genesis of the sun
In wild lullabies;
The starry wonders of night.
Textures of rainbows;
The red and pink explosions
Of vast, inner worlds;
The angelic epiphanies
Of fiery orange;
The candied dreams and visions;
The flowered dawns,
That seemed to last forever; .
Golden autumn moons
And summer's silvery blue
Streams of consciousness;
The wintry spells woven by
Fairies and snowflakes;
Avenues and parks covered
In blossoms of spring.
Sweet playgrounds of youth linger
In the memory.
Now the narrowing of worlds.
Now darkened pathways.
Now the haunted absences.
Now the death of joy.
Now frozen metal nightmares.
Alas the future
Is a chasm, unless we
Can awaken and
Resurrect, the child within!
