The Power Of Silence Poem by Duncan Stephen

The Power Of Silence

Noise, noise, noise why can't the noise stop
Is it too much to ask for the noise to stop
Whats making this awful noise I must find out

Babies crying for food, workmen drilling holes
Babies fed, no more crying, Friday afternoon, workmen gone home
Peace and quiet at last

How long will it last, it's the weekend
Babies crying, rapidly fed
Mum and dad want a long ly in bed

Silence is golden, can hear my brain tick
Can hear a pin drop
All noise shut out of my mind

Eye shades on, ear plugs in
Now I know the meaning of silence
Such is the power of silence
