The Prince Of Hide And Seek Poem by Christopher Hopkins

The Prince Of Hide And Seek

A blue arm of smoke, rises.
Lost to sight,
returning cast over sky,
and the autumn rainbows are falling apart.
The wood smoke hides
the veins of tobacco,
as the flames turn to their
black hard state.
School bell missed again.
In its place, feats of your emprise.
The Prince of hide and seek.
But, before too long,
the light has gone
and the seeping cold
pulling at the bone.
At home the chill awaiting.
Unsmiling by the fire place,
the Book in hand.
Forgiveness becomes the punishment.
Your soul will always heed
to the pull of your quiet adventures
for the sake of these hidings waiting.
Run away child,
your mind will always scream.
