The Princess And The Bee Poem by Nick Wadge

The Princess And The Bee

Rating: 5.0

Oh goodness says the Princess, a busy buzzy bee.
A busy buzzy bee I see in front of me.
I don't want to see a busy buzzy bee
He might buzz in front of me and sting me on my knee.

Oh Princess says the bee I won't sting you on your knee
Or buzz in front of you as you're sipping at your tea.
I won't bother you if you won't bother me.
If you leave me be, I will leave you to your tea.

The princess drinks her tea and thinks about the bee
If I leave the bee to be, he won't buzz in front of me
But he might come back tomorrow and sting me on my knee.
The Princess thinks the bee is as naughty as can be.

Oh Princess says the bee, I'm not as naughty as can be
In fact without a bee you'd have nothing with your tea.
Could that really be, says the princess to the bee
The only thing I have is honey with my tea.

But honey comes from me, says the bee quite modestly.
I make it out of nectar from the flowers by that tree.
Honey comes from flowers? Says the Princess to the bee.
I thought it came from Tesco, in a jar for 80p

Oh Princess says the bee, you're as silly as can be.
I take nectar to my hive and give it to my queen.
She makes it into honey, which you have with toast and tea.
It's put into glass jars and sold for 80p.

Well I do like toast and honey; it goes well with my tea
And I'm glad your queen can make it so tasty and yummy.
But I'm still afraid that you will sting me on my knee.
Or buzz in front of me as I'm sipping at my tea.

Oh Princess says the bee I won't sting you on your knee
Or buzz in front of you as you're sipping at your tea.
In fact without a bee there'd be no flowers by that tree.
No flowers by that tree? Really how could that be?

Oh Princess says the bee, you're silly as can be.
When I drink nectar from a flower, pollen sticks upon my knee
I take it to another where it drops off while I feed.
Spreading pollen with my knee makes the garden flowery.

Well my oh me says the Princess to the bee
I like it when my garden is bright and flowery.
And I must admit to liking sweet honey with my tea
Perhaps you might not be as naughty as can be.

Why thank you says the bee as the Princess sips her tea
So now you know a bee is as useful as can be.
And if you leave him be he won't sting you on your knee
He's far too busy buzzing, making honey for your tea.
