The Promise Poem by Nom Nom Nom

The Promise

Rating: 5.0

I made a promise, to a good friend of mine;
the promise is to not add another line;
I swore to her that I wouldn't anymore;
even if I fell to the floor;
she was glad I did that;
but that's something I'm bad at;
breaking promises, feeling weak;
and when I got the guts to speak;
she was angry, hurt, and sad;
and it was because I did the bad;

No one knows how you feel inside, but she was hurt enough;
if only I kept this promise, I would be considered tough;
I started over, six more weeks to go;
I'll never fall again so low;
now I try not to cut, to keep that promise strong;
and I know that it is wrong;
so now, I focus on the good;
and I'll fall where I once stood;
I'll be better, you'll be fine;
and that's because we both won't make that line;

I can smile knowing someone cares;
that someone is there;
to pick me up and hug me tight;
to keep me company through-out the night;
I'll do the same back to you;
because that's what best friends do;
I'll be there to keep that smile true;
