The Purple Chronicles - A Violet Saga Of Royalty, & Magic, & History Poem by Curtis Keith Barker

The Purple Chronicles - A Violet Saga Of Royalty, & Magic, & History

A Tyrian Tale

In realms of history, rich and vast, A color reigned, a dye unsurpassed. Purple, the hue of royalty's might, A symbol of power, a captivating sight.

In ancient times, it was a treasure rare, Reserved for the elite, beyond compare. Persian kings, like Cyrus bold and true, Wore purple robes, a majestic view.

A touch of magic in its deepest shade, The purple wizard's hat, its mystery displayed. A symbol of faith and mysticism's grace, In Asian cultures, it found its sacred place.

Yet more it holds within its regal frame, The blend of red and blue, its claim to fame. Wisdom, independence, and dignity it imparts, A color of substance, a hue with hearts.

In eighteen fifty-six, a breakthrough did unfold, William Perkin's invention, a story to be told. Seeking quinine, he found a different prize, Mauve, the first synthetic dye, a noble rise.

From Latin viola, the name violet took flight, French whispers turned Violette, a name so bright. English too embraced its royal hue, From old purpul, a legacy anew.

The roots of purple stretch far and wide, From Tyrian's acclaim to languages that glide. Porphura, purpura, Viola, Mauve, In its shades, a history weaved and still yet being woven.

So, in this tapestry of hues, we find, Purple's legacy, both old and kind. A color of emperors, mystics, and grace, In the world's grand story, it finds its place.
