The Real World Poem by sara winters

The Real World

Looking out the window at the pretty scenery
it seems so peaceful that it's hard to believe
how many of us live so pointlessly
like shop for stuff you don't need
while the rest of the world bleeds
sit back and watch some more t.v
or head out to the movies
you can do what ever you please!
just don't question the authority
don't look around or you might see
that the world isn't really what it seems
that all around you the grass might be green
but beyond that pretty scene
is a planet of toxicity
and a world powered by greed
with a corrupt history
we're told that we're free
but we live in indentured slavery
forced to make the cycle repeat
so we live our own little dream
distracted from the reality
it's what comes nice and easy
a pointless life of misery
