The Real World | Life Poem by Aiden Florence

The Real World | Life

One misery,
After the next

It's like a cutting dream
Of endless nightmares

A memorable wedding
Suddenly fell apart

The pain froze deep
As our love vanquished

How much more of this
Can we take and accept?
Ignoring our fate
And believe we were meant to be

This isn't love,
What we have,
It's a ritual
Designed to keep us sane
So we wouldn't fall apart
Or lose control of ourselves,
So we could pretense our emotions
And live an ideal life

Heaven is nowhere near,
The door's locked dead
None of this is what we ever wanted,
But fate leaves us no choice

If our lives are a living hell,
Then so let it be
If all we can do is love each other,
Just live with it
If one day you find yourself miserable
Who do you think would care?
Would I?
Not now, not ever

Take what you need from me
And I'll do the same
We're only humans after all
And we're worthless deep inside
If you dare to think
All of this is too much,
Just look around yourself

So bitter and cold
Humans are like robots deep inside
No one would care when you suffer,
This is the real world
Whether you like it or not
